| Building Bridges Today for Tomorrow |
It wasn't long after Jack and Marian Nash of Manchester had retired from their respective careers in electrical engineering and nursing that they felt they should get back out into the community again. Jack had received excellent care from Carroll Hospital Center following a heart attack in 1986, so they decided the hospital was the perfect place to start. Now 16 years later, the Nashes have established themselves among the more than 250 adult volunteers at the hospital.
"Our volunteer group is like another family," Jack said. "They are really great people."
The Nashes have spent many hours working in The Learning Center and the Emergency Department. Today they are the friendly faces at the front desk who greet visitors in the main lobby several evenings a week. To say they have created a legacy would be an understatement. Now the Nashes have decided to carry their legacy on by including the hospital into their estate plan.
"We feel very happy to include Carroll Hospital Center into our estate plan," said Marian. "We are not rich but we spread what we have around."
Those who choose to remember the hospital in their estates become members of the Bridge Builders Society, explained Ellen Finnerty Myers, Vice President of Development for Carroll Hospital Center. "The Bridge Builders Society is our way of honoring today those who have chosen to remember the hospital in their estate plans tomorrow."
There are many creative ways to write Carroll Hospital Center into your estate plan including establishing a charitable gift annuity; providing for the hospital in your will; making a gift of property or some other appreciated assets like stocks and bonds; and/or by making the hospital the beneficiary of a charitable trust, paid up life insurance policy or IRA. The Planned Giving Committee of the Carroll Hospital Center Foundation has many resources to help you with the estate planning process, including access to the expert advice of estate attorneys.
